An aromatic plant that has a rich flavour and a strong essential oil. It is the main element in Greek thyme honey, which is widely celebrated for its beneficial properties. According to mythology, the gods took the tears shed by Helen of Troy during the Trojan War and transformed them into thyme. The plant’s revitalising properties were known to Roman soldiers, who used thyme to scent their baths.
Properties-Uses:As a beverage,it is used to soothe coughs and to treat ailments of the mouth, stomach and intestines. It stimulates the nervous system and enhances mental clarity. In cooking, it is used to season fish, meat and sauces.
Preparation:Add a teaspoon of thyme to 250 ml boiling water. Let it rest for 10 minutes. Strain, and drink with a little honey. Avoid excessive consumption.
