METAXA Angels Treasure Cask Strength

Carefully preserved, patiently waiting in casks, fine spirits around the world age and evolve, while interacting with the environment around them. Through evaporation, the water and alcohol they contain slip through the pores of the casks. In humid conditions, evaporation naturally acts more on alcohol than on the water, leaving the aged spirit with reduced alcoholic strength. What flees the cask is the share of the spirit destined to be enjoyed by the Angels, known as Angels’ Share.

This is not quite what happens in the cellars of the House of Metaxa, in Attica.

Ours is a unique, almost magical story. In Attica the humidity is low, temperatures are moderate and stable throughout the year. As a result the Angels treat our blends in a very different, unexpected way.

Sneaking off a bigger portion of water, the Angels leave behind a more concentrated and intensely aromatic blend. The spirit they have left behind has a significantly higher alcoholic content than when initially placed inside the cask. This blend of aged Muscat wines and exquisite distillates, meticulously selected and left to mature for decades, is a one-of-a-kind, aged spirit, different from any other. The amber liquid is graced with a deep perfume of bitter orange peel, dried fruit, sweet spices, chocolate, oak, toffee, Bourbon vanilla, plum marmalade, and Everlasting flower. On the palate, it is velvety, silky, and complex. The finish is intense, with a long after-taste
