Pamako. An unusual name for olive oil that hides excellent quality and elegant packaging. Comes from Chania, Crete in a special glass bottle with a certified health claim. His name also means himself. No, the word Pamako is not an exotic foreign language. It comes from Linear B, the oldest written language in Europe, the first Greek script.
Linear B was first discovered at the palace of Knossos, but clay tablets written in Linear B have since been found at Pylos, Thebes, Mycenae, and elsewhere. It later differs from Linear A and writes the Minoan period.
Pamako is therefore a true "nature" oil, rich in polyphenols, a natural substance known for its antioxidant properties. At least olive oils in Europe have been self-certified as "medicinal" and Pamako is one of them.
Due to the morphology of the area, the use of heavy machinery is not possible. Harvesting is done by hand, throwing electric sticks while climbing the tree and each time carefully harvesting the fruit, which is light green in color before it begins to rotate.
Based on the chemical analysis carried out by the Department of Pharmacy, Pharmacognosy and Natural Products Chemistry of the National University of Athens in March 2015, the evaluation of both our olive oils showed some impressive results.
The levels of oleocanthal and oleacein in "Pamako Monovarietal" and "Pamako Blend" are higher than the average values of the international university studies that have now been carried out. It should be noted that oleocanthal and oleacein have important biological activity and have been implicated in anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, cardioprotective, and neuroprotective activity. Also due to European Regulation 432/2012, the hydroxytyrosol derivatives that “Pamako” contains are over 5 mg/20 g of olive oil. Such a result leads to the fact that daily consumption of 20 g of “Pamako” protects blood lipids from oxidative stress.
The bottle and the two types of oil are black, a special oil to protect against spoilage from sunlight. The cap is made of cork with a wood finish.
